PROJECT TYPE: Architecture
BUDGET: $19M
STATUS: Ongoing
ORGANISATION: Gold Coast City Council
LOCATION: Helensvale Town Centre, Helensvale, QLD
ARCHITECTS IN ASSOCIATION
COMPLETE URBAN: Lahz Nimmo
The brief for the project required the replacement of the existing library with a new larger facility combined with a community, cultural and youth centre. A Council customer service centre and offices were also required. Lahznimmo worked with COMPLETE as architects in association. The design aims to create an integrated public building that is responsive to its siting on the edge of the Helensvale Plaza shopping centre and which will engender strong community ownership. A new public plaza and cross site link, which function as a public forecourt to the building, have been created at the southern end of the site. The project has a strong sustainability commitment with the building achieving a 5 Green Star level of design.
